"Boss Up" your Morning Routine

The Importance of a Morning Routine

What does your morning routine look like? The start of every morning is so important. The first few minutes can set the tone for a great and productive day. If you’re anything like me, I set several alarms in the morning, ensuring that my phone is across the room so that I could “get” up. My alarm starts blaring at 5:30 a.m. On a good day, I am up in great spirits and ready to conquer the day. “Okay Goggle, play…”, I exclaimed. On a not so good day, yeah we all have them, I oversleep because both my phone died and my alarm didn’t go off, hit the snooze too many times, or I decided to stay up past my bedtime. Days like this lead to fatigue and crankiness, after rushing out of the door or to your computer, skipping breakfast, and leaving home to fight the chaotic morning traffic on I-77. Minor changes can make a great deal. Boss up your morning routine and set the tone for a positive and productive day.

Silence

Before getting out of the bed, I thank God for another beautiful day and His many blessings. I suggest including some type of mindfulness practice such as meditating, praying, or practicing quick breathing techniques, whatever you prefer. The goal is to clear and calm your mind before the day starts. Set the vibes with our amazing bestseller, The Not Tuhday, Satan candle.

Affirmations

Encourage yourself. Pour into yourself daily. OMG, I literally have sticky notes with affirmations outlined on my vanity bedroom mirror, inspired by Gabrielle Union in “Being Mary Jane”. Every morning, I stare at myself and affirm quietly or loudly that “I am Fine. I am Fearless. I am Powerful. I am Enough.” I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I don’t have to compare myself to anyone else. I am Fearless. I choose to operate in faith over fear. God did not create fear and as Queen Bey would say, “I can do anything, yeah!” I am Powerful. I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me. I am Enough. I honor where I am and I know where I'm going. Most importantly, believe in what you say. You can and you will. End of story. Grab the "She Remembered Who She Was" mug and affirm who you are DAILY!

Visualization

If you’re anything like me, I love a visual. Close your eyes and imagine being that person you want to be and start showing up as that person. Look at your vision board as a reminder of all of the goals you set at the beginning of the year. Set some SMART goals and make a plan that is aligned with inspiring images and who you want to be and take the necessary steps to get there. Manifest the life you want and it will come to fruition by working hard, remaining determined and consistent, and staying prayed up. Visualize and slay your goals with our Fine and Fearless Lifestyle workbook

Exercise

Studies show that exercising in the morning significantly boosts your energy level. If you’re anything like me, I cannot muster up enough strength to get up in the morning for a gym session. The thought of having to wake up an hour earlier at 4:30 a.m. makes my skin crawl. Instead, I do 60 squats as soon as I get up to allow blood and oxygen to flow to the brain. Go for a run, walk, try yoga, participate in a virtual workout! Start where you are! These quarantine pounds got to go!!

Read

I grab my devotional book with anticipation and excitement to read my daily devotion for the day and reflect. These messages always come at the most perfect time. I love reading. I can literally sit down and read for hours. If you don't like reading, I definitely recommend trying audiobooks. A game-changer and you'll be surprised by how much we retain by just reading.

Scribe

Scribe simply means "to write". OMG! As an introvert, I love to write. Journaling is so therapeutic because it helps organize chaotic thoughts and reduce stress.  We are in historic circumstances as the world responds to the coronavirus and racism, remember to remain grateful and know that God is in control.
